It's all about moving information from one program
and computing platform to another.
Actual Case Studies
Shipping Integration
A car care products company needed the ability to ship large volumes of
their online products. They wanted to use a variety of freight companies based
on the customer's location and the products ordered.
DH Consulting worked with their logistics department. We broke down
the capabilities of the different freight companies and how well their
services could be integrated to the online store. DH Consulting
helped determine the freight companies to use based on their
shipping rate schedules and how smooth the shipping process would be for the
logistics staff.
The company selected FedEx, UPS, Old Dominion, Yellow Freight.
DH Consulting wrote custom software to present accurate
shipping rates to the customer based on the state, country and product ordered.
Where the freight company had an application program interface (API) to retrieve
the rates from the company's servers, DH Consulting used it. When only a
rate schedule was available, DH Consulting loaded them into a database and wrote
custom software to retrieve the correct rate.
To make the shipping process go smoothly for the logistics department,
DH Consulting added the capability to produce packing lists, shipping labels and
when possible,
automatically notify the freight company of new shipments. For FedEx and UPS,
DH Consulting used their XML API. For Yellow Freight, we wrote custom software
to send the shipping information via EDI. Since Yellow Freight and Old Dominion
didn't provide a API for labels, DH Consulting wrote custom software to produce
labels according to the freight companies specifications.
Warehouse & Online Inventory
A large volume online chocolate store was having trouble keeping current
inventory information on their Asp Dot Net Store Front.
The warehouse staff spent many hours a day manually inputing online orders into their
Fishbowl Inventory system.
DH Consulting wrote a custom Java application that automatically connected
to their Fishbowl Inventory software and their online store. The custom application
automatically downloaded the orders from the web site and created the sales orders using
the Fishbowl XML application program interface (API) and a custom XML interface
to the Asp Dot Net Store Front online store written by DH Consulting.
The custom Java application also updated the web site with the inventory levels in
the Fishbowl Inventory software. Now, when an online sale is made the customer knows
if the item is in stock. If an item is sold online, the sales order is
automatically created in Fishbowl. With DH Consulting, the online chocolate store
was able to have up-to-the-minute inventory both online and in the warehouse. |
